As the paint now comes off in flakes, it is clear that the surface was never prepared as it ought to have been prior to painting. I'm reluctant to employ the services of one of the local casual painters again, because they lack the necessary know-how and equipment to do a professional job, no matter how much I want to help ... I'm taking early retirement at the end of June, which means that my house will be unoccupied for long periods of time. I thought that I might as well let the house in order to ease the financial burden, but I know how tenants can wreck a place.

On Saturday night the Krom River (on the southern edge of Onverwacht) flooded its banks and came very close to the houses near the river. If some of you have knowledge of this, can you please enlighten me on when or where this was discussed and voted on? I have asked this question to Mr Giliomee who told me that it was discussed and agreed upon with the Annual Year Meeting in 2007, but nobody I spoke to knows of this and it is not in the minutes of the meeting.
