Condition of Road
Dear Members
i'm presently having my house build on 157 Burgundy Boulevard. The decision to settle at Onverwacht came relatively easy. Nevertheless i visited the estate a number of times bevor i finally decided to build on this wonderful estate (Diemersfontein was the other option). However, i realized over the time that the condition of the road from the village of Wellington, around the circle to the entrance to Onverwacht was deteriorating quickly. the bumps, ruts and the odd potholes remind me strongly of the roads up here around Kyalami where i presently reside. while these conditions may not pose a problem when travelling by car they are an absolute nuisance when travelling by motorbike. and since this is my favourite mode of transport i anticipate that my old bones will rattle even more once i move into my new house. i'm glad to see that the over-engineered, over-size "speedbump" outside house 146? has been made more driver-friendly. the bump in question would have, without a doubt ripped the engine and gearbox out of my big touring bike. Allow me at this point to inform all those residents of Onverwacht who now fear that the tranqillity of the estate will be suffering once i move in with my bikes that i'm not a Hooligan-Biker (i have just turned 60) and that i shall ride considerately and ensure to be as quiet as possible. Who must be approached with regards to the condition of the road? has anybody attempted to have this situation rectified?
Fondest regards
Hans
Addition (sincerely hope that this is not too confusing. the first edition of +-10am made a dissappearance. here we go again.................) i had a close look at some of the brick-paving in front of doors and garage doors at Onverwacht. not only look some of the bricks ungainly with the grass or moss growing between the bricks, some are probably paid on an unsuitable foundation. Paving-Bricks, regardless of shape and size are not suitable to park motorbikes on it since the sidestand tends to get hooked in the gaps. i anticipate to have pavers as supplied by "Africotta" laid between the garages and the road. these pavers measure 44cmx44cm, are of "Terracotta" colour and "Flagstone" matt finish and certainly will blend in beautifully with the appearance of the estate. furthermore, the cement crouting will prevent the grass from growing between the pavers. Pls note that a paver of my choice can be viewed at Piet Gilliomee's residence. Kindly treat my request favourably and post Your much appreciated comment on this site.

State of the roads
Good day, Hans,
Sorry for the delay but I was off line for a while. We will discuss this on our next Committee meeting which is on the 31 July. If you are around you can come to the meeting as well. The roads will have to be attended to as soon as the building in phase 2 and 3 has been completed. The heavy trucks has runed the paving and it is getting worse everyday. Please have patience. You will here from the committee after the meeting.

Hallo Emmie
thank You kindly for Your invitation to the Committee Meeting. unfortunately i am up here in Gauteng and will only be back in Wellington 11. August for a few days. Your statement "the roads will have to be attended to as soon as ................." i suppose that You refer to the paved roads inside the Onverwacht Estate. these roads are not a problem with the exception of the speedbump outside house 146 (?). a bump the size of the Matterhorn and not bike(r)-friendly. i believe the bump has now been modified and made more user-friendly. however, i stand to correction.
no, i am actually refering to the condition of the road from the main road in Wellington, around the circle and down to the main entrance to the Onverwacht Estate. riding the bike on that road rattles my brain and beclouds my vision. kind of hitting Matterhorn with a motorbike doing 250kmh.
i shall discuss my concern with the Wellington Town Engineer as soon as i have settled in at Onverwacht. apart from my concern for my bikes and my well-being i am rather easy going (although the builder might have a differend opinion).
Fondest regards und machs guaet.
